 | | General S371 | Charlotte, NC (September 28, 2006) -- Continental Tire North America, Inc. (CTNA) is introducing the new General S371 all-position truck tire to the North American market. Developed primarily for regional haul on/off road use, replacing the General S370, the General S371 offers considerable benefits for fleets and end users. The new General S371 features a 20/32" tread depth with a cut and chip resistant tread compound for longer tread life in on/off road conditions. The advanced tread compound is specially formulated to provide superior mileage on-highway as well as enhanced resistance to cuts and tears from off-road use. With a premium load range H casing and unique stone ejectors in all tread grooves, the General S371 further reduces stone retention allowing for long life and multiple retreads. "Continental is excited to introduce the General S371 to the market", said Clif Armstrong, Director of Commercial OE Sales and Marketing. "This new tire continues the strong performance that Continental and General brand products have been giving the regional truck tire market for many years." The S371also features Continental’s exclusive Visual Alignment Indicators (VAI®) located on the shoulder ribs. Continental’s VAI® system permits users to visually identify tire tracking irregularities within the first 5/32" of tire wear, so that mechanical adjustments to the vehicle cab be made in order to extend the life of the tire. Recommended applications include bottom dumps, end dumps, coal haulers, school buses, waste haulers, beverage trucks and local pick up and delivery.
