1969

First generation of an electronically controlled anti-lock brake system (ABS) presented at the International Autoshow (IAA).

1977

Series production of the H 31 hydraulic brake booster for the BMW 7 series.

1984 and 1985

Production start of the ABS MK II for Ford USA and Ford Europe - the world's first integrated ABS (third generation).


1989 to 1992

Production start of the new anti-lock brake system with separate unit design (ABS MK IV and MK IV-G). Modular extension of the ABS systems MK II and MK IV with the traction control system (TCS).

1993

Reorganization and merger of Alfred Teves GmbH, SWF Autoelectric GmbH, DeKoning GmbH (Koni) and ITT Bergneustadt to become ITT Automotive Europe GmbH.

1995 to 1997

Production of the compact ABS system MK 20 and MK 20-E with integrated electronic controller and semiconductor relay.

1998

Production of the Electronic Stability Control ESC - a further development of the ABS MK 20 to stabilize vehicles in critical driving situations.


1998

Acquisition of ITT Automotive Brake & Chassis by Continental AG, Hanover and integration into the division Continental Automotive Systems. Year of the foundation of Continental Teves AG & Co. oHG, Frankfurt a.M.

2000

Series production of the Electronic Brake System MK 60 with a new generation of valves and an integrated electronic controller with a core-redundancy concept and a "two-chip" design. The MK 60 is compatible with active and passive sensors. It is part of an EBS-family to equip all classes of vehicles.

2001

The 50 millionth Electronic Brake System (EBS) comes off the production line in Frankfurt.


2002

Presentation of ESC II: This first ESC with active steering intervention opens up new dimensions in driving dynamics and stability. The next EBS generation is ready as well: MK 60 E / MK 25 E with still higher levels of integration of functions and components.

2003

Presentation of the first APIA demonstration vehicle at the International Autoshow (IAA): With the project "Active Passive Integration Approach" we strive for networking all active and passive safety systems. Our goal is the injury and accident preventing car.
