From radio to automotive electronics  

Modern production and development buildings are characteristic for today´s Continental Temic. About 6,000 employees work in the development, production, distribution and administration departments.

The history of the provider of innovative and high-quality automotive electronics goes back to the late 19th century for the Nuremberg site.

Company History
1898Nürnberger Schraubenfabrik (NSF) was founded
1923The development and production of radio accessories begins at NSF
1941AEG becomes owner of NSF
1945Extensive destruction at NSF during World War II 
1946Resumed production of resistors, variable and electrolytic capacitors
1958The first European UHF tuner with frame grid valves goes into large-scale series production
1959Acquisition of a production site in Ingolstadt; the production of resistors and capacitors is moved there
1980The development and production of component assemblies for passenger car equipment begins
1981TELEFUNKEN Electronic GmbH founded with headquarters in Nuremberg
1985Development and design engineering of control units for ABS systems  
1989MMB GmbH in Kirchheim/Teck is integrated into Daimler-Benz-Aerospace 
1989New site in Manila, Philippines opened 
1990Production of control units for automotive comfort functions like door modules and seat electronics begins
1990AEG produces small-power motors and heating blowers for the automotive industry at the Berlin site  
1992Production of electric components and control units for airbag systems begins   
1992Combined activities of AEG and German Aerospace in the area of microelectronics under the name TEMIC TELEFUNKEN microelectronic GmbH with headquarters in Heilbronn. At the same time, foundation stone was laid of today´s company headquarters in Sieboldstrasse in Nuremberg.
1993Integration of Dornier´s automotive electronics activities at the Friedrichshafen site into Temic as the Body Electronics Product Line
1994New plant in Cuautla, Mexico
1995Temic builds a modern production site in east of Budapest
1996A.D.C. founded in Lindau as a joint venture of Temic GmbH and Leica AG
1996Temic Automotive Electric Motors GmbH (TAEM) founded in Berlin
1997The plant in Haldensleben starts production
1997ISAD-Systems founded in Cologne
1998Nuremberg is now the venue of company headquarters. Temic opens a large, very modern development center in Auburn Hills, Michigan, U.S.A.
1998The Sensor Systems Product Line at the Kirchheim/Teck site produces the tenth million airbag sensor
1999New company headquarters of Continental ISAD in Landsberg
2000Production of the three millionth door module in Berlin  
2001TEMIC TELEFUNKEN microelectronic GmbH integrated into the Continental Corporation and now renamed Conti Temic microelectronic GmbH with corporate headquarters in Nuremberg.
2001Opening of plant in Shanghai, China (joint venture) 
2002Complete takeover of Conti Temic microelectronic GmbH (TEMIC) by Continental AG
2003Under the brand name Continental Temic, today the provider of high-quality automotive electronics is part of Continental Automotive Systems, a corporate division of Continental AG
