To a great extent Active Roll Stabilization compensates for the conflict of objectives between handling agility and comfort, since springs and dampers or adjusting dampers can be tuned primarily with regard to ride comfort.

Principle of operation

Active Roll Stabilization consists of two active stabilizers, a valve block, a tandem pump, sensor system, a control unitas well as supply components such as filters, oil tank, cooler, hoses, supports and lines.

Hydraulic actuators are integrated in the mechanical stabilizers at the front and rear axle. These so-called active stabilizers adjust independent stabilization moments at the front and rear axles via two electronically regulated pressure control valves, so that

  • The rolling motion of the vehicle construction is minimized or entirely eliminated while turning corners or in curves,
  • The copy motion of the vehicle construction is reduced,
  • A high agility and target accuracy is achieved over the entire speed range, and
  • An optimal roll steer effect as well as non-problematic load-cycle behavior isĀ generated.

The control unit valuates analog signals as well as CAN signals of the vehicle for an optimal control of the valves depending on the actual state of the vehicle.
