ACDIS is a new system to support the driver in the longitudinal guidance of a vehicle combining distance sensors and Force Feedback Pedal.

Motivation

Most collisions occur with ahead driving vehicles or at a speed below 50 km/h respectively. Driving in columns is tiring and can lead to inattention and distraction.

Offences against distance and speed indications are meanwhile avenged severely.

Main Functions

• Driver support in distance control and in speed control (Cruise Assistance, Cruise Control)
• Distance determination to heading vehicle through cost effective sensor technology
• Counterforce at the accelerator pedal when driver falls below the safety distance to ahead driving vehicle. Driver receives a feeling for the "virtual bumper" through the feedback of the accelerator pedal
• Advanced: Reduction of stopping distance (Prefill, Prebrake)
