The fast and precise measuring of rotational speeds is essential for proper functioning of vehicle control systems such as driving stability systems, motor management and transmission controls. In this respect rotational speed sensors make a direct contribution towards: - High level of driving safety
- High-level driving dynamics
- Improved driving comfort
- Low level of fuel consumption
- Low emission values
We are world market leader in this area with a total production of about 100 million active wheel speed sensors until today. The determination of speed is based upon anisotropic magneto-resistance (AMR) effect. By means of this and integrated information processing, active sensors provide a much wider range of functions than the determination of rotational speed alone. Functions of the most recent sensor generation - Detection of rotation direction and zero speed capability
- Additional digital input to the sensor for external signals (e.g. the monitoring of brake pad wear)
- Air-gap monitoring
- Large air-gaps up to 4.5 mm
- Standardized "VDA" data protocol
- Current interface
- Customer-specific applications
The shape of the sensors and the plugs is determined by customer requirements. The very small sensor elements permit both very small dimensions and a flexible design of the sensor. According to the customers demands the sensor is provided with or without cable.
