The first Continental “Beat the Best” fuel savings competition has concluded for NAFTA countries. On May 15, 2009, the overall and regional Fuel Savings Champions were announced!

• Overall Winner and Midwest Regional Winner: Lillibridge Transportation, Urbana, IA, 7.01 mpg average
• North Regional Winner: Houff Transfer, Inc., Weyers Cave, VA, 6.52 mpg average
• South Regional Winner: Southern Cal Transport, Birmingham, AL, 6.73 mpg average
• West Regional Winner: BJ Trucking, Phoenix, AZ, 6.14 mpg average
• Canada Regional Winner: Scottlynn Commodities, Vittorio, ON, 5.56 mpg average
• Mexico Regional Winner: Transportes Unidas Mexicanos, 6.71 mpg average

For the winning fleets, using Continental tires created an overall average fuel efficiency of 6.39 miles per gallon, or 15.936 gallons of fuel per 100 miles.
