Continental Ramps Up Partnership Supplying Airport Tires Across the U.S.

01/19/2012

  • Tire manufacturer marks success of supplier agreement with Aircraft Service International Group
  • Continental tires are now in use at 109 ASIG aviation services locations in the U.S.

Fort Mill, South Carolina, January 19, 2012. Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (“Continental”) announced today its strategic supplier partnership with Aircraft Service International Group, ASIG®, is in full force with all 109 ASIG and Signature Flight Support locations in the U.S. supplied with Continental tire products.

ASIG, a recognized leader in the commercial aviation services industry, offers a full range of ground handling, fueling, and airport facility services. The company now purchases replacement tire products for all its vehicles from Continental’s extensive portfolio of passenger/light truck, commercial truck and industrial tires.

Continental’s commitment to excellent quality, as well its extensive portfolio of tires for all aspects of airport ground support operations, were some of the factors that helped ASIG to make the strategic supplier decision, said Sandra Schick, Continental’s Key Account Manager for U.S. airport business.

“We are happy that Continental was able to supply ASIG with a tire solution that meets their overall goal of lowering their ground support vehicle operating costs through quality products. This is a great opportunity to provide our broad portfolio of tires to the ASIG and SFS U.S. locations,” Schick said.

Continental’s ContiRV20 industrial tire is the first pneumatic industrial tire designed specifically with the durability, speed characteristics and comfort needed for the airport ground service application. In addition to ASIG locations, the ContiRV20 is now in use on ground support vehicles at several major airline terminals throughout the U.S. Use of this tire has resulted in lifetimes up to six times longer than passenger/van tires or crossply tires in the same application, Schick said.
