The Institute of the Motor Industry Roadside Breakdown Course The IMI Road Safety course is 3 days in duration and aimed at Specialist Tyre Fitters involved with working on the roadside. Candidates must have completed a recognised course in Passenger Vehicle Tyre Fitting and possess good communication skills. Successful candidates will receive an IMI Quality Approved Award in Roadside Safety. As well as being recognised throughout the Motor Industry, this qualification will also count as a credit towards the Nationally recognised Technical Certificate in Vehicle Fitting and will satisfy the underpinning knowledge requirements of the Vehicle Fitting NVQ. Course Details - Half-day classroom based theory session
- One and a half day practice session
- One-day examination and assessment
Course Content: Theoretical - Identification of the dangers associated with working on the roadside.
- Service vehicle and equipment requirements
- Procedures for attending breakdowns at the roadside (A & B roads and Motorways).
Course Content: Practical - Service vehicle & equipment condition reporting
- Attending a Motorway breakdown
- Safe removal and replacement of road-wheels
IMI assessment and test - A multi-choice theory question paper
- Three practical assessments, observed by an IMI approved assessor.
