Hanover (pps) The Continental Corporation, Europe’s leading tire manufacturer, currently raffles among all participating members of Europe’s largest automobile club ADAC (General German Automobile Association) 5x2 tickets for the final game of the next FIFA World Cup on 11 July 2010 in the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg which has a capacity of more than 90.000 spectators. As Official Sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, Continental thus combines their commitment to professional football with attractive lotteries like in the past years.

All ADAC-members have a chance of winning if they participate in the annual “Yellow Angels” reader’s election until 31 October. As part of the election of “the car of the year 2010”, the most attractive of the 47 new cars – from Audi via Porsche to VW Polo – will be decided. The premium packages of the winners comprise a three-day journey including flights for two persons as well as the accommodation in a four star hotel and completely organised and guided supporting programme in the Johannesburg area. The winners will early be determined until 15 November 2009 and will be informed in writing.

Alexander Lührs, press spokesman of the passenger & light truck tire division of Continental, explains the motivation behind the raffle: “The Continental Corporation is partner of the most important football tournaments of the UEFA and FIFA –World Cup, European Cup and Champions League– for fifteen years now. I think that our technologic expertise regarding tires, our close links to the most important football tournaments and the knowledge of the ADAC-members about new cars form a very good overlap.

Therefore, we offer committed voters already today the chance to travel to Johannesburg, accompanied by a person of their choice, to take part in the World Cup final and to get to know the fascinating country South Africa.” On their football website www.ContiSoccerWorld.de Continental offers in the remaining nine months detailed reports on the country and its people, especially popular travel destinations in the host country with its 47 million inhabitants as well as information about the 20 qualified teams and their stars, of course.

As official sponsor in the sector of tires, Continental will again fit all team buses at the Football World Cup 2010 with Continental tires and, thereby, ensure that all players, coaches and attendants of the 32 qualified teams will safely travel from venue to venue. During the World Cup, it will be winter in South Africa officially but Lührs thinks that the buses which will bring the winners from the hotel to the Soccer City stadium will not need winter tires: “In the night, it will be quite cold by South African standards with less then 10 degree Celsius but, considering the maximum safety in traffic, it will most probably not be snowing.” Nevertheless, the winners shall pack a warm pullover at a height of 1.400 metres.

The division passenger tires of the Continental Corporation is market leader in Europe and South Africa. In Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Continental operates a factory for passenger tires where in 2008 about 2.9 million tires had been produced and sold, both in the original equipment and in replacement tire business, with 1.600 employees altogether. With their light truck factory, which is located in Port Elizabeth as well, they further cover the need south of the Sahara and, thus, also meet the demand in the host country of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
