The match will be shown exclusively live on ESPN. The Final follows on from a hugely successful launch of The FA WSL, the first ever summer elite semi-professional league for women's football in this country. Burton Albion Commercial Director, Fleur Robinson, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be hosting The FAWSL Continental Cup Final, and we feel that this showpiece event will have a real impact on the women's game in Burton upon Trent and the surrounding areas. "We are extremely pleased that Burton Albion has been selected to host such a high profile event in the women's calendar, allowing for a superb family day to be held at the stadium. We are hoping for a large attendance and a great atmosphere on the day with some of the most high profile women footballers on display." Continental Tyres, one of four WSL partners, will be showcasing their 'Shot Stopper' programme ahead of the kick-off. Developed by Keith Rees, Senior England Women's Goalkeeping Coach, the programme looks to drive participation of girls into the game, in particular to develop goalkeepers and goalkeeping skills of girls U16 by testing their skills in a series of specialist goalkeeper skills tests and training drills in a fun, enjoyable environment. Sponsorship Manager at Continental Tyres, Tim Bailey, said: "We have been delighted by the number of girls who have attended the 'Shot Stoppers' events throughout the country and also the media coverage and support from the clubs that we have received. "We have also been pleased by the range of abilities that we have seen from those trying goalkeeping for the first time through to talented young 'keepers from The FA Centres of Excellence. We wish all the clubs the best of luck for the remainder of the season and look forward to a fun packed day at Burton." The Final will also be the sixth live match to be featured on ESPN in The FAWSL's debut season. The live matches, alongside a weekly highlights programme on Tuesday evenings, have given the league a great platform to consistently showcase the quality and competitiveness of the WSL to a wider football audience. Michael Game, Chairman of the WSL Board, is looking forward to the last game of a successful first season: "The first season of the WSL has been a fantastic showcase for the very best talent in this country. "Matches have been hugely competitive and exciting, attendances have been very strong and we've had some unbelievable support from the football community in launching this new League. We are looking forward to ending a wonderful first season at Burton with The FAWSL Continental Cup Final. "The stadium has excellent facilities and we hope the crowds come out in force for The Final." Download press release Home | Back
