The FA, in association with Continental tyres is launching the girls’ football festival in February 2012.
Nineteen events will be taking place from February to October across the country and the festivals will include games and activities for players, parents and coaches.
The events which combine football, lifestyle and music are designed to encourage girls to get involved. FA WSL players will be at the event to meet and chat with the girls. There will be an inflatable pitch, inflatable domes, Skills & Drills area, the FA Women’s Super Cup, Continental Shot Stoppers, Goal keeping, ContiWarmUp, Batak Board & a Speed Cage for penalty shoot outs. ContiWarmUp is specifically designed for footballers to reduce injuries and improve performance and this ties in well with our objectives as a tyre company where we strive to improve safety on our roads.
The programme has been tested now with football coaches at all levels and the response to it has been fantastic. “There really is nothing like this out there” says Leon Turner of Active Soccer, “and it is a valuable resource to both new coaches who are looking for useful material and for more experienced coaches purely because the information is so easily accessible.”The festivals aim to inspire girls aged 5 – 17 to get involved in football, or those 1m + girls who are already playing the game to come along and bring their friends who are new to football.
