Hanover, June 5, 2012. Continental AG, the international automotive supplier and tire manufacturer, has given away 120 tickets to matches at UEFA EURO 2012 exclusively to students. As well as a ticket to an actual game, Continental is organizing the travel, accommodation and offering an attractive range of additional events. But those staying at home have not been forgotten either: Continental will be hosting big-screen viewings at 14 selected partner universities across Germany. In addition, Continental has given away some more tickets exclusively among the target group of students at careers fairs and in conjunction with two student-oriented careers magazines – “Hochschulanzeiger” (sponsored by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) and “Unicum”.

Continental’s commitment to football sponsorship pays off.

“Our involvement as an official sponsor of various football events has raised the profile of our brand and, at the same time, given us the opportunity to present Continental as an attractive employer, as well as establishing and intensifying contact with some extremely promising students,” explained Sehnaz Özden, head of Personnel Marketing and Recruiting at Continental worldwide.

“We therefore gave most of the tickets to students with whom we have been in contact for some time and hope to establish a long-term bond at Continental.”

Continental is arranging numerous other public viewings of the German group matches: The first big-screen event will be at the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences for the Germany versus Portugal match (June 9, 8.45 p.m.). Germany’s match against the Netherlands (June 13, 8:45 p.m.) will be broadcast at the following universities: RWTH Aachen University, Braunschweig Technical University, Chemnitz Technical University, University of Hanover, Ilmenau Technical University, Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, Kaiserslautern Technical University, Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences, Nuremburg University of Applied Sciences and University of Regensburg. The final group match against Denmark (June 17) will be shown at Darmstadt Technical University. Continental will be well represented at these events with a goal wall, food and drinks, fan merchandise and opportunities to learn more about career opportunities within the company.

This cooperation with various institutions of higher learning at the big-screen viewings also underlines the unique relationship which exists between Continental and colleges and universities. “Ultimately, not only do the students benefit from this type of event, as it gives them the opportunity to find out about career prospects at an early stage, but so do the universities and colleges, as they can draw attention to themselves and their excellent links to industry. At the same time, Continental presents itself as an attractive employer,” emphasizes Özden.
