DFB-Pokal: Dresden vs Dortmund: Black and yellow DFB Cup encounter

The black and yellow encounter between German champions Borussia Dortmund and Second Bundesliga newcomers Dynamo Dresden will take the spotlight during the second round of the DFB Cup on October 25 (Tuesday, 20:30 hrs). Dresden proved in the first round that they can be giant killers when they beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-3 in extra time, having been 3-0 down. Now the team from the Elbe will meet another Champions League team. The two teams usually wear the same colours. But the hosting club has the right to choose the strip for this match. SC Dynamo will not abandon their traditional black and yellow, so the Westphalians will revert to their white, alternative shirts. It will be a special game for Dresden coach Ralf Loose, who played with Dortmund in the past.

Cologne won their home match against the Baden club 2-0 in the 8th round. The highlights of all matches that day will be shown on the public German TV channel ZDF; ARD will broadcast summaries from all games on Wednesday (October 25). In addition, Sky will broadcast all 16 matches live on both days.

Their Bundesliga encounter on August 28 ended with a 1-1 draw. The South-West derby between Second Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and First Bundesliga club 1. A very interesting encounter between Second Bundesliga Erzgebirge Aue and Bundesliga club 1. FC Nuremberg (Wednesday, 20:30 hrs) was drawn by Andreas Koepcke, goalkeeping coach of the German national team, and top model Sara Nuru on August 6. The DFB Cup’s shock survivors, third division Eintracht Trier, are looking forward to hosting their second encounter with a Hamburg club. After the 2-1 win over FC St. Pauli, relegated from the Bundesliga last season, the team from the Mosel will now meet Hamburger SV (Tuesday, 20:30 hrs). Trier’s division rivals Rot-Weiss Essen also have to play a Bundesliga team when they meet Hertha BSC Berlin at home at Georg-Melches Stadium (Wednesday, 19:00 hrs).

Like Bayern, VfB Stuttgart were drawn to host Second Bundesliga opposition and will meet FSV Frankfurt at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Wednesday, 20:30 hrs). Amateurs will play professionals when Holstein Kiel meet MSV Duisburg (Wednesday, 19:00 hrs). Two encounters between Second Bundesliga clubs will complete the round of 32 teams aiming to reach the final in Berlin on May 12, 2012: Fortuna Duesseldorf host TSV 1860 Munich (Tuesday, 19:00 hrs) and SpVgg Greuther Fuerth receive SC Paderborn (Tuesday, 20:30 hrs).
