The practical relevance of the EU truck tyre label - affecting your business success - derives mainly from rolling resistance, which is responsible for fuel consumption. Continental focuses on the excellent fuel savings properties of its Motorway line to safeguard our promise of lowest overall driving costs. This builds on the basis of our advanced fuel savings technologies which are known and well-established under the name of Eco-Plus for more than 30 years. Our L-Line tyres, all labelled with the Eco-Plus on the sidewall (HSL,HDL,HTL), are great performers on the Motorway thanks to the optimised interplay between casing and specialised tread incorporating the following technologies: Air-Keep inner liner
Denser molecular structure at the nano level means less gas diffusion and up to 50 % longer maintenance of inflation pressure. With the maintained inflation pressure the tyre stays in shape longer while keeping the rolling resistance at its optimal level.
Stiffer triangular belt The triangular structure of the belt layer means more sturdiness in the longitudinal direction and increased flexibility in the belt edge area. Increased sturdiness in the driving direction significantly reduces rolling resistance.
Tread - Cap-Base tread compound concept
The tread is composed of two rubber components with different heat conductivities. Rolling resistance optimised base and wear-resistant cap ensure reduced tyre temperature in service for low fuel consumption. - High stiffness tread design concept
Steer, Trailer – designed for minimal deformation in movement Drive – designed for minimal deformation in movement at high traction level The treads are designed to minimize the loss of energy in service. Energy-saving rolling of the tyres means less fuel required to keep the truck going. Click here to learn more about our new L-Line with ECO-PLUS technologies.
