Snapshot Pall-Ex has always been a tough site running a 24hr shift operation, putting great demands on their trucks and in particular the tyres. In the battle against excessive wear and damage rates, Pall-Ex chooses Continental’s CSEasy solid tyre with its unique mounting system. Business Issues The initial trucks were used on non Continental standard Original Equipment solid tyres, however, due to the tough operating conditions rapid tyre wear was an issue and with the introduction of a non-slip floor, this became an even bigger problem. The Solution Pall-Ex’s tyre partner Barloworld analysed the company’s problems and requirements and introduced the Continental SC15 to the site. The benefits were an improvement in the overall performance of the fork lift truck tyres. However, the punishing site still continued to suffer from an unacceptable amount of tyre wear. The decision was then made to run non Continental Pneumatic Radial tyres to try and improve the general tyre life. However, the solution was still not found as the site suffered a number of puncture issues and damage causing excessive downtime that affected the entire operation and increased service costs. A revolutionary tyre arrived on the market recently which offered a great overall solution to the problems Pall-Ex had experienced. Barloworld in partnership with Continental Tyres introduced the new, award winning CSEasy to the site. The CSEasy is exclusive to Continental and offers a number of key benefits to the running of the business at Pall-Ex. Fraser MacNeill, director of operations, said: ”The CSEasy tyre can be mounted and demounted without the use of a press, safely in the on-site Barloworld workshop. The CSEasy has been returning a performance up to three times the life of a standard solid tyre. The CSEasy is tough and durable to stand up to the toughest of our site conditions. We are really pleased Barloworld Handling have introduced us to the CSEasy.” To view this case study in full, please download the PDF file above right.
