Continental leads the field in braking tests 德國馬牌輪胎煞車性能勇奪第一 · Comparison of the summer tyre tests run by 39 European trade magazines shows Continental's clear edge over its competitors · Continental wins 37% of all braking tests · Continental leads on both wet and dry roads 經歐洲39大輪胎雜誌評比, 德國馬牌輪胎煞車性能在夏季胎中無論在乾溼路況中, 皆顯著優於競爭品牌 Hanover, 10 August 2009. In terms of braking performance, premium brand Continental tyres clearly lead the field - this is confirmed by a comparison of the summer tyre test results published by 24 European trade magazines in 2009. In the tests, tyres manufactured by Europe's market leader took first place in all braking comparisons on both wet and dry roads - 25 times overall in 87 tests. Hanover-based Continental thus underlined yet again the high safety reserves of its products, which came top in braking disciplines almost twice as often as the two next best competitors. The tests, which were carried out by trade magazines and consumer associations from ten European countries, took a close look at 14 different tyre sizes. Compact, medium range and luxury cars with all-wheel, front wheel and rear wheel drive were used as test vehicles. A comparison of the first three places also showed Continental tyres clearly ahead of the rest. With 51 first, second and third places, the tyres with the Saxon Steed in their trademark gained more than twice as many 'medals' as their closest competitor. Commenting on the survey of the test results taken from the European trade press, Alexander Lührs, Press Officer for Continental, said: "This comparison, based on the test results published by the magazines, confirms our leading position in terms of braking, which is the most important tyre characteristic and the one to which all trade magazines attribute the highest weighting. It applies to braking not only in the wet, but also on dry roads, and is thus a clear expression of the strategy of our entire corporation, namely to improve road safety." In the tests the gap between these tyres and budget sector products or cheap Asian imports is frequently so considerable that numerous competitive products tend to only receive a qualified recommendation or be rated as not recommended. Continental has published an overview of the braking test results of the European trade magazines at www.continental-tyres.com under summer tyres in the section car tyres.
