Why rain tyres?
There's no such thing as good or bad weather.
But there is good and bad preparation! Be prepared – with tyres designed to perform in exceptional circumstances.

Did you know that it rains for 170 days each year in Germany? That 25 per cent of all accidents resulting in personal injury occur on wet roads? Or that accidents are twice as likely when it rains? Rain has a large influence on road surfaces and traffic and should not be underestimated: • Rain presents a challenge to drivers. • Rain reduces visibility.Rain increases the chance of being dazzled by glare at night. • Rain requires extreme levels of concentration. The main danger is aquaplaning As the amount of water on the road increases, this leads to an increased risk of aquaplaning at higher speeds. This is caused by a "wedge" of water that cannot be dispersed building up in front of the tyre. As a result, the tyre gradually loses contact with the ground. Aquaplaning then occurs when the tyre has lost all contact with the road and is floating on the wedge of water.
With Uniroyal tyres, you are well prepared for all weather conditions. All Uniroyal tyres are designed to reduce the risk of aquaplaning and also provide optimal traction on wet roads. Take the Uniroyal RainSport 1 as an example: at 50 mph (80 km/h), this tyre is designed to disperse around 30 liters of water from the road surface every second. This corresponds to 1,800 litres per minute, or around 15 full baths. Dispersing this amount of water reduces the risk of aquaplaning and significantly reduces braking distances. That's why you need rain tyres. |
