Hanover, May 2008. The German automotive magazine ‘Auto Zeitung’ has published a tyre test in its ‘4x4 Extra’ special edition. The editorial team tested road tyres for four-wheel drive vehicles. The result: the Uniroyal rallye 4x4 tyre came out top and was rated as ‘highly recommended’.

The Auto Zeitung specialists tested a total of 6 tyre models for four-wheel drive vehicles, 2 of which were from premium manufacturers. The Uniroyal rallye 4x4 street ranked the highest, receiving particular praise from the editorial team for being extremely well-balanced. According to the tyre tester’s summary “Wet, dry or off-road, Uniroyal received the best marks for all conditions”.

The Uniroyal rain tyres for four-by-fours have a double-v-tread pattern and an optimum tyre contour to provide the best possible wet performance by displacing water along both the length and width of the tyre. Wide shoulder grooves ensure precise handling and excellent driving stability.

When designing the tyre, focus was also placed on providing a robust tread compound and construction, which is reflected by a double carcass, a modified steel cord and a special binding structure. The tyres also have a particularly stable shoulder area for good off-road traction. The rallye 4x4 street was, however, mainly designed for road use. A special silica compound for SUV tyres offers outstanding grip on wet and dry roads alike, providing both driving stability and short braking distances
