14.06.2006

Hannover, May 2006. The new extended version of the 'Uniroyal Funcup' online game took second place in the international Animago Award 2006 in the category 'Professional/Interactive Games'.

Further information about the Uniroyal Funcup, the affordable motor sports series open to all comers, is available on the website www.uniroyal-funcup.de. The 'Quali Game', where players can win a place in an actual Funcup race, is particularly exciting. The game has now gained international recognition for the second time - after the 'Silver Pencil' at the One Show Interactive Award in 2005, this year the 'Uniroyal Funcup' came second in the international Animago Award. The game was developed by multi-media agency WM Team in Hanover.

Motor sport is normally an expensive hobby. The Uniroyal Funcup is an exception in that it is very affordable. But that's not all - on the 'Uniroyal Funcup' website, fans can use their skills in the 'Quali Game' and if they are lucky in the prize draw, this year they once again have the chance to win a free place in one of the real Funcup races. To heighten the excitement of the game, rain tyre manufacturer Uniroyal has added three further race tracks - Italy, the UK and Belgium - to the existing 'Germany' circuit, thereby extending the range of options.

Each week's game winner receives a surprise gift and is entered in the main prize draw. Every Monday the list of the highest scorers is zeroed to give all new players an equal chance. The website is also available to players in Belgium (www.uniroyal-funcup.be), France (www.uniroyal-funcup.fr), Spain (www.uniroyal-funcup.com.es) and the UK (www.uniroyal-funcup.co.uk). Anyone can take part and qualify for the European team, with one main winner per country (6 in total) being invited to participate in a race.

The Belgian rubber goods manufacturer Englebert produced tyres from 1895 and the company's customers included Continental AG. When the firm merged with US Rubber in 1958, it was then known as Uniroyal Englebert. Uniroyal, the inventor of the rain tyre, has been a European brand within the portfolio of Continental AG in Hanover, Germany since 1979.

The Continental Corporation is a leading supplier of brake systems, chassis components, vehicle electronics, tyres and technical elastomers. In 2005 the corporation realised sales of EUR13.8 billion. At present it has a worldwide workforce of approximately 80,000.
