New tyres
New, used or remoulded tyres? What should you bear in mind?

Why choose new tyres and not remoulded or used tyres? New tyres not only look good, they have a number of practical benefits too. The full tread depth provides increased safety and new tyres are often quieter and give a more comfortable ride. New tyres are subjected to thorough testing by the manufacturer, ensuring optimum safety for both you and your vehicle.

We strongly advise against buying used tyres from breakers' yards. There is virtually no way of knowing what the tyres have previously been subjected to; for example, whether the interior has been damaged by being driven violently over kerbstones. This could lead to blow-outs.

Caution: When new tyres have been fitted, we strongly recommend that you run them in by driving at a moderate speed for the first 125-185 miles (200-300 kms) in order to roughen the tread surface. Only then will the tyres reach their full performance.
