Looking after your tyres
Avoid steep kerbs

Mounting kerbs incorrectly shortens the service life of your tyres. This is particularly true if you drive over kerbs too fast or at the wrong angle and the impact may cause the tyre to crack. Damage of this kind is indicated by bulges in the tyre wall.

A crack can lead to air escaping from the tyre, which can result in an accident becoming more likely at high speeds or when the vehicle is heavily laden. If you suspect that a tyre has been damaged (you see a bulge in the tyre wall), you should immediately have the tyre inspected by an expert.

We therefore recommend that you mount kerbs slowly and from as wide an angle as possible. Also take care not to squash your tyre against the kerb when parking.
