Fitting tyres yourself Nowadays, no motorist should contemplate fitting his tyres on to the rims himself. If they are improperly fitted (e.g. using screwdrivers or similar "tools") this may cause bead area damage or even core breakage, where initially no external damage is visible, but driving safety is drastically reduced. The worst consequence could be a burst tyre, thereby completely destroying it. A tyre also needs to be balanced to ensure optimum driving performance. However, this process requires special technical equipment. So our tip is: Leave tyre fitting to the experts. |
