Co-operation between Semperit and DSV aktiv raises 13,000 euros for disabled athletes

Hanover/Munich, 3rd May 2004: Semperit and DSV aktiv have successfully completed another joint campaign - auctioning the Semperit Audi TT-Roadster on Ebay raised 13,000 euros. Semperit will be putting this sum towards the German Ski Association's SIS (Safety in Skiing) Foundation project designed to integrate the handicapped into winter sports.

Ever since 1980, the year of the disabled, the SIS has been running two ten-day Nordic skiing courses per season for mentally and physically disabled schoolchildren from all over Germany. These courses help them to improve their co-ordination and their motorial abilities, so that they are then able to participate in Nordic skiing.

In Munich's Maximilianeum, home of the Bavarian parliament, Olaf Wittenberg from Semperit Marketing Germany, together with Marc Schürer and Heike Schöpper, Semperit Marketing Europe, presented the cheque to Alois Glück, president of the Bavarian parliament, member of the foundation's board of trustees and also chairman of the Bavarian Alpine Rescue Service. Also attending the presentation were the honorary chairman of the SIS, Erwin Himmelseher, and the chairman of the foundation's board of trustees, Hans Hansen, who is also the honorary president of the German Sports Association (DSB).The auctioning of the Audi TT Roadster on Ebay is the second campaign organised by the two partners. Last winter the two winter specialists combined their know-how and core expertise. Semperit, the winter tyre expert, produced the alpine-proven tyres. The DSV aktiv complemented the campaign with useful information on the subject of safety in winter sports. Every set of winter tyres purchased came with the offer of membership in the DSV aktiv, sponsored by Semperit. The package was available last season from all Reifen Wagner tyre outlets in southern Germany. The recently-held auction was another - unconventional - way of providing funds to promote winter sports activities for the disabled.
