Does the EU Truck Tire label affect all customer segments equally? As the EU Tire label focuses on rolling resistance, wet grip and external noise, it affects the single customer application differently: Motorway: Strongest influence of rolling resistance as these product lines are highly optimized for fuel savings
Allround: Strong influence of rolling resistance and wet grip as the respective tire lines are designed for reduced fuel consumption at short braking distances
Off: Minor influence as tires for this application are predominantly supposed to provide casing durability and traction
Winter: Minor influence as tires for wintery conditions have to provide safety via grip and traction Is the EU Truck Tire label comparable amongst the different axle positions? Basically the technical parameters defining the single label classes apply to all axle positions in the same manner. However, as Steer, Drive and Trailer axles require different tire performance priorities this leads to a reasonable performance shift in the labeled criteria. The predominant rib design of Steer and Trailer tires favors a superior label class for these products in comparison to the predominant block/semi-block design of Drive axle tires. The reason for this lies in the easier and less noisy running of rib tires. Are the EU Truck Tire labels for different tire sizes comparable? Basically the technical parameters defining the single label classes apply to all tire/rim- sizes in the same manner. However, as smaller tire/rim sizes combined with light trucks are specifically higher utilized to their loading capacity, this leads to a reasonable shift in the indicated label class.
