08.06.2004 The New Conti Navigator

Hannover/Essen, June 2004. Thanks to their good protection from bad weather, scooters are practical, popular and frequently used vehicles in the cold season too. But so far there has been a lack of modern tires for the autumn and winter months. The new Conti Navigator is M+S-rated and, being an all-weather tire, is especially suitable for the cold and wet months of the year.

The extensive range of outstanding scooter tires from Continental, Hannover, has now been supplemented by another model. The Conti Navigator is an all-weather scooter tire with mud and snow rating, denoting its ability to provide sure contact with the road, even in adverse weather conditions.

Of course the tire cannot be made to deliver high grip just by giving it the M+S symbol. Its high-grip properties come from a new compounding technology that keeps the rubber supple even at low temperatures. This is where the scooter tires benefit from Continental´s long track record of compounding expertise. The Navigator is able, for example, to get a good bite on the road in situations where normal rubber compounds have long gone stiff from the cold.

The new tread design takes account of the fact that roads are very often wet during bad-weather months of the year. Reliable dispersion of water from the contact patch, together with excellent grip, are the functions of the design. Not only can the Navigator be used on paved roads, it also permits the odd excursion on unsurfaced tracks. Moreover, the Navigator features very good handling characteristics because the tire´s contour has been computer-optimized to ensure supreme driving properties.
