Hannover/Essen, June 2004. Hannover-based Continental AG continues beefing up its range of motorcycle tires. Since spring, a new sports tire approved for road use has been available especially for supermoto bikes.

Riding a supermoto bike has been a trendsetting sport for some time now. These high-torque machines, often equipped with single-cylinder engines, feature enormous agility making them extremely popular over recent years. As of now, these bikes can be optimally equipped with a visually and technically advanced version of the proven ContiForce Max tire.

For supermotos it is sufficient to have 'H'-rated tires allowing speeds up to 210 km/h. And so the ContiForce SM also has an 'H' speed rating. Perfect handling is ensured by the more pointed casing of the newly developed front-wheel tire. The front tire´s tread also gives more grip in extreme situations because the tread grooves do not run as far into the shoulder, leaving more rubber for a good hold at the tire footprint. These supermoto tires incorporate a specially developed, softer compound, which also guarantees excellent cold grip versus pure racing tires.

With ContiForce SM, it is not only possible to do fast laps at the race circuit. It also possesses all the necessary characteristics for a road-going tire. With sufficient tread depth, not only the police and inspection organizations will take delight in the new tire, but above all the motorbike riders. Thanks to the use of latest compounding techniques, the rubber warms up within a very short space of time and delivers exceptionally high levels of grip and safety with harmonious transitions through to the tire´s limits. Another pleasing feature is the tire´s very good intrinsic cushioning properties on uneven road surfaces.
