Continental Industrial Tires leader in technology and innovation:

06/06/2006 New CSEasy can be fitted without a tyre press

Hannover / Essen, 23rd May 2006. Continental introduced the innovative industrial tyre CSEasy into its range last year. The wheel/tyre system means a fitting press is no longer needed, making it easy to change the wheel in situ.

Here you can download the press release as a word-document (90 KB).

The solid rubber CSEasy tyre from Continental is extremely easy to use. The wheel/tyre system with an adapter between the tyre and the rim makes a fitting press superfluous. A torque wrench is used to fit the tyre on to a Lemmerz-type rim - a fast, straightforward operation. The conical adapter and the screw fitting ensure the tyre sits well on the rim. The CSEasy is suitable for fitting as a single or twin tyre on fork lifts driven on smoother surfaces.

The CSEasy offers considerable benefits to consumers, the trade and the Original Equipment sector:

- Greater flexibility, as there is no need for a fitting press, accessories or a stock of rims. Downtimes are also minimised and the adapter can be repeatedly used.

- Better performance thanks to improved technical characteristics, such as the optimum fit on the rim, lower rolling resistance, high temperature tolerance and increased dynamic load capacity when transporting heavy weights.

- Greater safety thanks to optimised resistance to tipping and improved steering precision.

- Better economic efficiency as a result of shorter vehicle downtimes and substantially reduced rolling resistance.

Not only does the tyre not require a press, it can also be fitted directly on to the vehicle using standard tools.

This saves time when changing tyres and reduces the complexity of the task, since less handling effort is involved, for example with replacement rims.

Super Elastic tyres are a class in themselves, both from a technical point of view and also economically speaking. Their solid rubber design makes them the first choice for a range of applications: in the warehouse, in industrial manufacture and logistics, and in many other sectors.

Continental Super Elastic (CSE) tyres are ideally suited for extreme applications. They offer great stationary stability, are puncture-resistant and maintenance-free. CSE tyres have been manufactured in Korbach in the German federal state of since 1966. Continental was the first company to develop an SE tyre that could be fitted to pneumatic tyre rims and from this the current CSE product group evolved. When Continental launched its SIT (Snap-In-Tyre) version, this early innovation had a lasting effect on the SE tyre sector.

Super Elastic tyres account for 40 per cent of the global industrial tyre market (crossply industrial pneumatic tyres: 32%, POBs: 23%).

Continental is the only tyre manufacturer to offer the entire range of industrial tyres. This makes Continental the No. 1 in and and puts the company in the top three worldwide.

The Continental Corporation is a leading supplier of tyres, brake systems, chassis components, vehicle electronics and technical elastomers. In 2005 the corporation realised sales of EUR13.8 billion. At present it has a worldwide workforce of approximately 80,000.

The tyre business unit is an Official Partner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup GermanyTM and an Official Sponsor of UEFA EURO 2008TM. For further information visit the websites www.ContiSoccerWorld.de, www.contifanworld.com and www.conti-online.com
