Continental Industrial Tires exhibiting at CeMAT Hanover, 2 - 6 May

02/22/2011

  • Continental Industrial Tires offers a complete range of products
  • Highest level of performance to fit any demands of customers

Hanover, February 2011. Continental Industrial Tires will participate in the CeMAT Hanover which will be held 2 – 6 May 2011 at Hanover Fairground. The tagline of CeMAT Hannover, the world's leading intralogistics fair will be “Sustainability in Intralogistics”. Continental Industrial Tires will exhibit together with ContiTech in Hall 25, booth J 11.

“2010 was a very positive year for the tire industry, especially considering the global financial crisis of 2009”, resumes Dr. Michael Märtens, Managing Director, BU Industrial Tires. "For 2011 we expect again a very positive development but will also have to cope with the extreme development of the rubber price which effects resilient tires the most", adds Dr. Märtens.

Customer needs

Continental’s focus is to satisfy customers in the material handling industry. Continental serves with a broad portfolio of specialized products having finely balanced performance features. Continental offers a cost advantage over competitors on the combined basis of purchase price, mileage, rolling resistance, energy consumption and service, thereby reducing the overall costs of ownership.

Sustainability

Continental takes responsibility for the environment, the climate, nature and the recycling of resources. Continental tires are free of Nitrosamine and Polycyclic Hydrocarbons, having a long lifetime and reduce material and energy consumption. Continental Industrial Tires are produced in ISO 14001 environmental certified productions facilities.

Product range

Continental offers a complete range of industrial tires for material handling: pneumatic radial and crossply tires, solid tires and press-on-bands as well as Multi-Purpose-Tires. Continental Industrial Tires will show the latest developments of its product range as well as popular products. The highlights at CeMAT Hannover are:

The ContiRT20 Performance, a pneumatic radial tire, can be relied on to move extremely heavy loads at speeds of up to 40 km/h (25 mph). The new tire managed to achieve up to 30% greater life expectancy. The good traction characteristics of the ContiRT20 Performance are immediately obvious from the tread pattern design. The tire also fulfills greater demands in terms of even wear and suspension characteristics, without making compromises in stationary stability or protection against stone trapping.

Developers and testing engineers alike took into account the heavy stress to which such a product is subjected later when used in the wood, steel or cement industry, in shipyards, logistics centres, or in air- and seaports in both indoor and outdoor applications. The tread depth, for example, was increased to the maximum to ensure the longest possible service life, even under arduous conditions. The tread pattern design, featuring wide grooves, guarantees reliable traction at all times on both surfaced and unsurfaced ground. Rolling resistance was substantially reduced to ensure low energy consumption, without adversely affecting driving comfort. The ContiRT20 has high performance reserves, which make it a very reliable tire.

The ContiRV20 is a powerful all-rounder for typical airport applications.

The ContiRV20 radial pneumatic tire, which is also suitable for use in production plants, plant engineering and construction as well as in logistics centres, has three major advantages: Up to 50% longer service life compared with a crossply pneumatic tire, a maximum authorised speed of 50 km/h, ideal for transport needs and a greater fuel efficiency and handling. The reason for these advantages is the specific mix of compounds, the balanced tread depth, and the ribbed design.

The mix of materials is specifically tailored by Continental to provide extra efficiency during operation. “It facilitates less rolling resistance, which is 30 percent less than with a cross-ply tire the same size and is crucial for low energy consumption,” explains Ralf Krieger, Product Development Manager, Industrial Pneumatic Tires at Continental. “For each metre travelled, fuel costs are saved and thus CO2 emissions reduced.”

A tough reinforced sidewall completes the components of this balanced tire whether being used on a tug, tractors or fork lift trucks at airports, the radial pneumatic ContiRV20 tire moves large loads quickly and reliably thus protecting the driver and goods to be transported with maximum comfort.
