Hanover/Munich, October 2009. Whether baggage carts or fuel tankers, cleaning and de-icing vehicles or the powerful airport tractors: Tyres from Continental give every airport ground support vehicle the necessary road grip – despite the numerous and varied requirements on the tarmac. Because, depending on the vehicle, not only driving comfort and speed are required here, but also a high degree of stability, durability and above all safety. Continental has pneumatic tyres and solid tyres in its product range that cover every area of application. Pneumatic tyres stand out thanks to their reinforced side walls which make them extremely puncture-resistant and give good driving comfort. Solid tyres from Continental are used everywhere where there are large loads. Compared to many competitor products, they offer much better driving comfort and absorb surface imperfections better. All the tyres, which are used on the most varied of airport vehicles, have one thing in common: They are made from a special mixture of materials that gives an even tread wear in combination with a flexible carcass. This means vehicle vibrations are clearly reduced contributing to the more secure transportation of the goods. “The robust Continental tyre makes transportation and all traffic much safer on the tarmac. But that is not all: all our tyres are very effective in terms of minimising downtime and cost“, emphasizes Ralf Krieger, Product Development Manager, Industrial Pneumatic Tyres at Continental. ”Numerous airports confirm that fewer vehicle hour losses have occurred thanks to our tyres. Downtimes and repair times have clearly been minimised.” Anexample of effective cost saving of Continental products: The new ContiRV20 has already been tried and tested at numerous international airports. It is being used at Chicago O'Hare airport in the USA and also in Germany in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg and Hanover. Large airlines like Qantas in Australia have reduced their downtimes and their repair costs by up to 80 percent by using Continental tyres. The mix of materials specifically tailored by Continental provides extra efficiency during operation. “It facilitates very low rolling resistance which is crucial for a lower energy consumption“, explains Ralf Krieger. “For each metre travelled, fuel is saved and thus CO2 emissions reduced.” Tyres from Continental are not only used on tractors, but also on baggage carts and freight vehicles, cleaning and deicing vehicles, snow ploughs, pushback tugs and fuel tankers. Above all, Continental supplies a whole series of different high performance tyres for the service areas, tarmac handling and passenger transportation like the ContiPremiumContact 2 car tyre, ContiWinterContact TS 830 winter tyres, Continental Vanco for vans and transporters and HSU and HDR tyres for commercial vehicles. For baggage carts and freight handling, the SC20, IC40, ContiRV20, SH12, MC20 and MH 20 are all tried and tested. Continental masters the particular and varied challenges at airports as tyre producer with a complete range of tyres for airport ground support vehicles. Between 6th and 9th October 2009, the most significant tyre of them all will be presented ‘live’ at inter airport Europe in Munich on the Continental stand in Hall B5. |
