ContiRV20 – Strength, Speed, and Comfort

04/01/2009 Hanover, April 2009. Continental industrial tires are developed to meet a wide range of demands, with design characteristics balanced to suit each individual application. The new ContiRV20 radial tire offers long lifetime, low rolling resistance and comfortable handling at high average speeds. It is the first radial pneumatic tire to combine all these characteristics and has been designed to endure the most demanding requirements in the toughest of environments – the airport ground support.

In order to handle the performance challenges at airports, the ContiRV20 offers strength, speed and comfort at an industrial level. For customers, the benefits are increased working efficiency, reduced driver fatigue, lower operating costs and less maintenance.

Strength
The ContiRV20 has an outstanding service life, offering high mileage performance, durability, and damage resistance under the most demanding conditions. This tire lasts up to three to five times longer than passenger car tires, and the extra thick sidewall offers up to 100% greater resistance to damage than that of a conventional van or light truck tire.

Speed
The ContiRV20 is designed for high average speeds of up to 40 km/h (25 mph) with minimal heat build-up and minimal energy consumption, thanks to the perfectly balanced tread depth. That is how the tire gets the name 'Continental Radial Velocity'. The tread compound and design of the ContiRV20 minimizes rolling resistance, with up to 30% less than a comparable crossply tire. Lower rolling resistance means lower energy consumption, so users save on fuel costs with every mile driven. CO2 emissions are also reduced when mounted on a diesel vehicle. At the same time, the tire still maintains full grip on all surfaces in airport environments..

Comfort
Thanks to its pneumatic design, the ContiRV20 offers driver comfort, as well as protection of goods it is carrying. The tire's radial casing offers more comfort on uneven ground. The ribbed tread pattern virtually eliminates vibration commonly found with industrial tire lugged tread designs in these fast-moving applications. Because the ContiRV20 is not demounted early for excessive vibrations, the realized tire lifetime is longer.

Distinguishing features of the ContiRV20:

  1. Closed shoulder prevents tread tearing and offers cornering comfort
  2. Reinforced sidewall for outstanding damage resistance
  3. Balanced tread depth to minimise heat build-up and maximized service life
  4. Tread compound is designed to reduce rolling resistance to a minimum while maintaining grip
  5. Ribbed tread pattern reduces vibration
  6. Radial casing ensures maximum comfort

The new ContiRV20 is a well-balanced compromise of tire characteristics - offering the perfect blend of strength, speed and comfort. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications and can be used on all wheel positions in almost any climate. The ContiRV20 is particularly suitable for sweepers, platform trucks, tow tractors and forklifts in airport applications. It can also be used in large production facilities, logistics centres and warehouses, where its design makes it ideal for transporting fragile goods, especially over long distances.

The ContiRV20 is available in the following sizes:

  • 6.00 R
  • 96.50 R
  • 107.00 R 12

These sizes are in preparation:

  • 180/70 R 8
  • 7.00 R 15
  • 7.50 R 15

All sizes of the ContiRV20 are tubeless.
