Hanover/Frankfurt am Main, October 2004. Continental AG in Hanover and the Second Division football team Eintracht Frankfurt have formed a partnership. Until summer 2006, the automotive supplier and tyre manufacturer Continental will be supporting Eintracht Frankfurt, the long-established football club from the German federal state of Hesse, in its attempts to climb back up the Federal League table and will from now on feature on the pitchside advertising at Frankfurt's Waldstadion. "Football fans are still enthusiastic about Frankfurt Eintracht and we are happy to support professional football in a location that is so important for our company" comments Bernhard Bamberger, head of Marketing Car Tyre Replacement Business Germany. Numerous Conti business customers will also benefit from this, as they enjoy watching Frankfurt Eintracht playing at home over the next eighteen months or so.
Continental, which is quoted on the DAX stock exchange index, has not just fitted premium brand Continental summer and winter tyres to the Eintracht players' vehicles; it also came up with a special attraction at the team's home match against 1860 Munich - before the game, Charly Körbel received a Mini as a new company car for the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School, fitted of course with Continental tyres. "Through our commitment we want to emphasise our close co-operation with Charly Körbel and his Eintracht Frankfurt Football School; together we set up the highly successful ContiTrainingCamps for youngsters and teenagers this year" Bernhard Bamberger goes on to explain. Continental will equip the Mini with its premium winter and summer tyres, and will keep the football pros, the parents and their children informed about the benefits of using winter tyres in winter and summer tyres in summer. Continental presents donation of 15,000 euros to UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and Olympic champion Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff A few weeks ago Continental, a partner of the 2nd Schafhof Festival organised by the Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff - UNICEF Foundation, collected a total of 15,000 euros in conjunction with the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School and the Frankfurt-based tyre retailer Reifen Diehl. The sum raised will benefit the UNICEF Children's Fund, which will use the money to support a project in Cairo, Egypt chosen by the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and Olympic dressage champion Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff. Continental used the opportunity of Eintracht Frankfurt's home game against 1860 Munich on 18th October 2004 to present the Goodwill Ambassador with a cheque for 15,000 euros. Explaining the motivation behind the gesture, Bernhard Bamberger comments: "As one of the world's leading automotive suppliers, we are now in good economic shape. In the light of this, we should like to provide a small donation for the children in Cairo, who will undoubtedly benefit greatly from this support". Continental has also launched the ContiTrainingCamps in Germany, a highly successful project for youngsters and teenagers between the ages of six and fourteen who are keen on football. The camps are run in co-operation with Charly Körbel and his Eintracht Frankfurt Football School.
Continental uses football as a communications platform.
