Continental is fitting UEFA EURO 2008^TM team buses and its own shuttles with reliably safe premium tyres

Hanover, June 2008. Continental AG is an Official Sponsor and exclusive tyre partner to UEFA EURO 2008^TM. It is equipping all the axles of all 16 team buses with premium bus tyres – as it did for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

Specially designed for use in combined regional and charter traffic, the HSR 1 model exhibits superb handling characteristics and a gentle, low-vibration running smoothness that make it an outstanding tyre in terms of highest-level safety, excellent mileage, reduced wear rates and enhanced driving comfort. The teams tend to use the team bus a lot over the course of a tournament, so the tyres’ safety characteristics are an important factor. “In this way Continental is providing Europe’s best footballers a enormous service- With a ground contact area no bigger than the size of a postcard, the tyres are, after all, the vehicle’s only link with the road surface," explains press spokesman Alexander Lührs.

On top of that virtually the whole Continental summer tyre family is to be used on more than 60 official UEFA vehicles. This includes the car tyres ContiEcoContact 3, ContiPremiumContact 2, ContiSportContact 2 and ContiSportContact 3 as well as the ContiCrossContact UHP and the Conti4x4Contact for off-road vehicles and the VancoContact 2 for vans.

In addition, all Continental shuttle buses are to be fitted with the HSL 1 special edition bus tyre introduced for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, decorated with stylized footballs and a coloured Continental logo on the sidewall, and will feature a large-scale Continental design.
