10/13/2004 Continental AG and Eintracht Frankfurt Football School agreeably surprised by youngsters' football enthusiasm Interim conclusion after five successful events - number of ContiTrainingCamps to be increased in 2005 Continental's brand ambassador Timo Hildebrand to visit the next ContiTrainingCamp in Stuttgart Continental also supports the Academy of the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School, designed to encourage special talent |
Hanover/Frankfurt, October 2004. Continental AG in Hanover, an Official Partners of the 2006 FIFA World CupTM, and the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School run by Karl-Heinz 'Charly' Körbel, school director and record-holding German Federal League player, have very successfully launched the first ContiTrainingCamps. Some four hundred football enthusiasts aged between 6 and 14 attended the first five one-week football camps organised by Charly Körbel, where they were able to improve their ball skills, co-ordination, shooting technique and tactics, as well as taking part in goalkeeping training. "All the youngsters were totally enthusiastic and want to attend further ContiTrainingCamps" summarised Körbel with satisfaction, seeing this as a confirmation of the concept. Bernhard Bamberger, head of Marketing Replacement Business Car Tyres with international automotive supplier Continental, added: "The ContiTrainingCamps seem to be the right way to generate enthusiasm for football among even more youngsters, teenagers and their parents ahead of the 2006 FIFA World CupTM, which is why next year we shall be increasing the number of camps to eight or ten."
Continental's brand ambassador Timo Hildebrand to visit the next ContiTrainingCamp in Stuttgart. From Continental's point of view, an important element of the football projects is that one or two local tyre dealers or car dealerships are always closely involved in the overall process and can use the events to establish new customer contacts. What is pleasing is that so far the feedback from the tyre trade partners involved has been entirely positive. And the next ContiTrainingCamp is imminent - the sixth event this year will be held in Stuttgart from 2nd to 4th November 2004. Presumably with a particularly popular player from this region participating, because Continental's brand ambassador and national goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand from the VfB Stuttgart has agreed to take part in this 'home match' to show tomorrow's stars a few goalie tricks and tell them about the daily routine of a professional. Continental also supports the Academy of the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School, designed to encourage special talent. Yesterday Charly Körbel launched the Academy of the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School, designed to encourage the best up-and-coming talents. The thirty most promising footballers in the ContiTrainingCamps will in future have the opportunity to participate regularly in the Academy's training squads, in addition to practising with their own clubs. Continental is also committed to this initiative and will be responsible for kitting out the 6-14 year olds. Continental uses football as a communications platform. Since the signing of the contract to become an Official Partner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup GermanyTM in January 2003, Continental's tyre division has focused consistently on football as a communications platform. In addition to Eintracht Frankfurt, Continental currently also supports the professional teams Hannover 96, FC Superfund Pasching in Austria, FC Kopenhagen in Denmark, IFK Gothenburg in Sweden, Valerenga IF in Norway, Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia and the French and Belgian national teams. German national goalkeeper and popular figure Timo Hildebrand from the VfB Stuttgart will be supporting the advertising activities of the premium tyre brand Continental up until the 2006 FIFA World CupTM in his role as the company's brand ambassador. Continental is using its six-language website www.ContiFanWorld.com to help all football enthusiasts on the internet to bridge the time until June 2006 - offering the five best players taking part in the regularly changing online games the chance to win two tickets each for one of the 2006 FIFA World CupTM matches.
The Continental Group is a leading supplier of tyres, braking systems, suspension components and technical elastomers. In 2003 the company achieved a turnover of 11.5 billion euros and currently employs some 73,000 staff worldwide. The tyre business unit is an Official Partner of the 2006 FIFA World Cup GermanyTM.
