Hanover, March 2004. Continental AG in Hanover, the Eintracht Frankfurt Soccer School and the tyre retailers Reifen Mönig GmbH in Birkenau, Hanhofen, Heidelberg and Landau, together with Vergölst GmbH in Aschaffenburg have joined forces to launch a pilot football scheme, which will enable around 250 youngsters aged between six and fourteen to take part in five-day training camps. These will be headed by record-holding German Federal League player and director of the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School Karl-Heinz 'Charly' Körbel, and other former football professionals will also be giving their support. The football camps will be organised on a regional basis and after the successful launch of the first two sets of camps in the test phase - in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria (31st May - 4th June 2004 and 7th - 11th June 2004) and Dossenheim, Baden-Württemberg (24th - 28th May 2004 and 31st May - 4th June 2004) - they will be duplicated in many other regions. Other partners involved in the scheme are the football clubs Viktoria Aschaffenburg and FC Dossenheim, who have made their sports grounds available for this purpose.

The ContiTrainingCamp concept follows the model of the summer camps run by the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School for the benefit of everyone involved.

Launched in 2002, the courses run by the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School, including the summer camps, have all enjoyed ever-increasing popularity. "Our courses for 2004 were fully booked within four weeks - and the summer camp within just four days! This overwhelming response far exceeded our expectations" comments director Charly Körbel. In the light of this, several partners joined up with Continental AG, which is going more heavily into football sponsorship anyway for its premium tyre brand Continental, and with individual tyre retailers to pursue one common objective: "We should like to use the enthusiasm here in Germany for football in the run-up to the Football World Championship to get more youngsters, teenagers and their parents interested in this great sport. If we can use the training camps as a memorable event which ties our customers to us, so much the better" the managing directors of the tyre retail branches and the head of Continental's Car Tyres Replacement Business Germany Norbert Busch declared in unison.

Established partnership - to be continued.

Last year the children of Continental's tyre trade partners were already able to enjoy being part of a professional training squad at the Eintracht Frankfurt Football School as part of the ContiSoccerDay 2003. This event was held just before the last Second Division match of the 2002/2003 season at Frankfurt's Waldstadion on an auxiliary pitch of the World Championship Arena, which is under construction. The pinnacle of the sporting event - over 80 youngsters, together with their parents or guardians, watched the drama unfold between Eintracht Frankfurt and SSV Reutlingen as Eintracht, based in the German federal state of Hesse, won 6-3, ensuring the club's promotion to the First Division. Norbert Busch, head of Car Tyres Replacement Business Germany at Continental, commented: "Our partnership got off to a very promising start last year and I'm sure that, together with additional partners from the tyre trade, we will run many more successful football camps."
