General Description Sensors for electronically controlled safety functions are the eyes, ears and the antenna of a modern-day high-tech vehicle. Nothing escapes them – neither the smallest movement of the vehicle nor an only seemingly non-threatening traffi c situation. Intelligent safety systems are inconceivable without them. Innovations in terms of vehicle safety are a broad fi eld, and not yet fully exhausted. The principal focus of many ongoing and future engineering projects is mostly a small, rather inconspicuous piece of electronics like the Sensorbox for Motorcycles. Application The Sensorbox for Motorcycles comprises not only the rate and acceleration sensors but also internal processing of all measured motions of the vehicle – especially the roll angle of a motorcycle. The data is processed in a single control unit. Depending on the type of data involved, a range of different actions are then triggered. Key Features - Measurement directions in x-, y-, and z-axis
- Measurement of yaw rate (z-axis)
- Measurement of roll rate (x-axis)
- Measurement of lateral and vertical acceleration
- Distribution of measurement signals on CAN
- Lead free
Motorcycle Applications - Roll angle calculation
- Traction control
- Curve-ABS
- Automatic power switch off
- Semi-active suspension control
- Adaptive/active lighting
Other Applications - Roll angle visualization
- Passenger recognition
- Electronic steering damper
