As a result, for example, it is no longer necessary to integrate a fixed phone module in the car when it is possible to share the options of an already available smart phone. Or there is no need to develop a special smart key when it’s possible to use the near field communication (NFC) technology of an existing smart phone.

Options and technologies

Virtual key via NFC: Via near field communication (NFC) the driver can use his smart phone as a virtual key. Furthermore it is possible to manage, control and activate special profiles to the user’s needs and liking via smart phone – even automatically. These profiles (e.g. business, family and relax) include illumination and sound settings as much as various other functions.

Terminal Mode: Once the smart phone is connected to the car’s infrastructure and the user has been recognized, the smart phone can be operated in an automotive-conscious and safe way through the vehicle display and controls thanks to Terminal Mode.

Wireless charging: Depending on a dedicated phone, it is possible to charge it without using a cable.

Interactive surface: Thanks to our innovative technology, it is possible to combine a tactile display with additional tactile controls within the same seamless surface. This enables manufacturers to realize new aesthetic and functional human-machine interface (HMI) solutions.

Infrared reflective surface: Another example for the integration of innovative technologies is our infrared reflective surface. Using infrared (IR) technology we are able to make even transparent elements operable. We use it for example as an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) faceplate, free of any electronics in moving parts. As a secondary effect, there’s a central storage area behind the fascia available for a nomad device.

Intuitive light infographics: An innovative peripheral interface solution to improve the information hierarchy and to optimize the driver workload in order to enhance safety. It can be used to give important information and alerts like NFC status, incoming phone calls or speed monitoring advices or, as a finesse, to welcome the driver according to the chosen profile.
