Tire Pressure Monitoring System and
electronic-Tire Information System

Driving safety and driving comfort are directly related to the condition of the tires. Approx. 40% of all sudden tire breakdowns, for example, are due to underinflated tires.

The systems developed by Continental permanently monitor the tire's inflation pressure and reliably alert the driver in the event of a loss of pressure.

In this way our Tire Information Systems help eliminate a frequent cause of accidents to enhance driving safety. In addition to this, they lower carbon dioxide emissions and reduce fuel consumption.

If a car's tires are underinflated by 0.3 bar, the vehicle will likely consume 1.5 percent more fuel and thus release a correspondingly higher amount of carbon dioxide emissions.

New statutory regulation for Europe and Republic of South Korea

The European Commission has passed a law that requires Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems on all new models as of 2012 and on all new cars as of 2014 – as is already the case in the US. South Korean legislation comes into effect from 2013.

The next generation of vehicles will include Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems as standard equipment. These systems will make their data available to other vehicle systems – the braking system, for example.

With our product portfolio we are, therefore, very well positioned to tackle future requirements and make motoring even safer, eco-friendlier, more comfortable and tire management easier for the driver.
