Drum brakes: proven safety for emerging markets

Drum brakes are radial brakes with two brake shoes that are typically pressed outward against the friction surface of the drum
through hydraulic wheel cylinder actuation in service braking and through the lever in parking braking. When braking ends, springs pull the brake shoes back inward. Drum brakes are a good combination of service braking and parking braking and have advantages in residual torque and cost.
