The Automotive Group of Continental AG - Innovations for a Mobile Automotive Future

The Automotive Group of Continental is one of the leading global automotive suppliers. With its three divisions – Chassis & Safety, Powertrain and Interior – it achieved sales of approximately €16 billion in 2010. The Automotive Group employs around 87,000 people in more than 170 locations worldwide. As automotive suppliers with more than 100 years of experience the three Divisions of the Automotive Group develop components and systems for vehicles that are safe, sustainable and interconnected with their environment. Driven by our ambition to turn accident and injury-free driving (zero accidents), a mobility preserving resources and protecting the environment (zero emissions), and an intelligent and optimally interconnected road traffic (Always On) into reality, the Automotive Group works, jointly with its customers, with a broad and global product portfolio at the development and production of future-oriented, technically reliable vehicles in line with market requirements.

Chassis & Safety – Driving Safety and Dynamics

The Chassis & Safety Division (C&S) develops and produces products and components in the field of driving safety and dynamics. Our core competence is the integration of innovative and top quality components with profound system know-how into the safety concept ContiGuard®. In 2010, C&S achieved sales figures of approximately € 5.8 billion and employed a workforce of approximately 30,000 worldwide. Chassis & Safety develops and produces electronic and hydraulic brake and chassis control systems, sensors, driver assistance systems, airbag systems and sensorics, windshield cleaning systems as well as electronic air suspension systems. Dr. Ralf Cramer leads the C&S Division, which is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Powertrain – eco-friendly drives

The objective of the Powertrain Division is not only to make driving more affordable and environmentally acceptable but also to make it a more pleasurable and less stressful experience for the driver. Therefore, the Division integrates innovative and efficient system solutions for powertrains in all vehicle classes. These systems increase performance, driving comfort and reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The comprehensive portfolio includes gasoline and diesel injection systems, engine management, transmission control units including sensors & actuators, fuel supply systems as well as components and systems for hybrid & electric drives. With sales of approximately € 4.7 billion in 2010, Powertrain employs a workforce of 27.000. The Division is headquartered in Regensburg and is managed by José Avila. Powertrain is placed among the world's top three in its field of activity.

Interior – Information technologies for cars, trucks and the aftermarket

The Interior Division develops and produces electronic systems worldwide for automotive manufacturers and the aftermarket. These systems allow information to be controlled and communicated in a vehicle as required by the driver and the driving situation. The range of products includes instrument clusters and multifunctional displays, control units, electronic car entry systems, tire information systems, radios, multimedia and navigation systems, climate control systems, telematics solutions and cockpits. Additional products and services for commercial vehicles and special vehicles and spare parts for the independent aftermarket as well as original equipment services for a phased-out series production perfectly round off the portfolio. With sales of approximately € 5.5 billion in 2010, Interior employs 30,000 people worldwide. The Interior division is headed by Helmut Matschi, who is based in Regensburg.
