• ADAC, Stiftung Warentest, ÖAMTC and TCS publish test results
• ContiWinterContact TS 800 and TS 830 best in test
• A total of 30 tyres for subcompacts, compacts and mid-size cars tested
• Semperit, Uniroyal, and Barum also pull in good results 

Hanover, September 22, 2011. The motoring clubs ADAC in Germany, ÖAMTC in Austria and TCS in Switzerland, along with the consumer organization Stiftung Warentest, today published the results of their current winter tyre tests. The ContiWinterContact TS 800 and the ContiWinterContact TS 830 topped the rankings in the subcompact, compact and mid-range vehicle classes. The experts praised the ContiWinterContact TS 800 as "avery well-balanced tyre that is good on snow and wet roads and highly fuel-efficient."

The ContiWinterContact TS 830 likewise turned in a convincing performance. It is a well-balanced tyre with very good properties in all safety-relevant disciplines. These results underpin Continental's position as Europe’s long-standing market leader in the winter passenger tyre segment.

The experts also checked Semperit, Uniroyal and Barum brand products. Semperit‘s new Speed-Grip 2 likewise received the top score of “good” for tyres designed for compacts and mid-size vehicles. The tried and tested Uniroyal MS plus 6 obtained a rating of "satisfactory" in the subcompact segment, as did the new Barum Polaris 3 in the compact and mid-range segments.

The experts at the largest European motoring clubs and Stiftung Warentest tested a total of 30 tyre models from European, American and Asian manufacturers. They looked at size 175/65 R 14 and 195/65 R 15 tyres. All told, nine products captured a rating of “good”, with all other products going away with scores of "satisfactory", "adequate" or "poor".
