The most recent issue of the Auto Zeitung magazine (No. 15/2011) names the ContiCrossContact UHP 4x4 summer tyre in size 235/60 R 18 W as its test winner with a clear victory over the other premium products.

The testers certify that the European market leader’s product “sets the standard in wet braking and steering precision”, and awarded the tyre top marks for wet weather performance. Even on unpaved roads, “the Conti tyre performs consistently well, braking and pulling very strongly on gravel surfaces”.
It also received the highest overall rating for off-road use. All in all, the ContiCrossContact UHP was the clear winner, scoring 340 out of 400 points. In this tyre review, the editors of Auto Zeitung magazine have yet again confirmed the focus of Continental tyres on all safety-relevant characteristics, as well as their well-balanced performance all round.

The test also highlighted the general conflict in tyre engineering between rolling resistance and wet grip properties: In the standard emergency wet stop test from a speed of 100 km/h, one of the competing tyres whose design teams had concentrated solely on attaining a very low rolling resistance demonstrated a much longer braking distance, passing the test vehicle fitted with Continental tyres – an Audi Q 5 3.2 FSI quattro which had already reached standstill – by six metres at a remaining speed of 30 km/h.
