04/02/2007 Car tires manufactured by the Continental Corporation for all segments are rated 'highly recommended' or 'recommended' by the trade press

Hanover, April 2007. Continental, Uniroyal, Semperit and Barum summer tires have been awarded top marks by editorial teams. The magazines of the German motoring organisation ADAC and its Austrian and Swiss counterparts ÖAMTC and TCS, plus the publications 'AutoBild', 'AutoBild alles allrad', 'AutoBild sportscars', 'Autozeitung' and 'Test' all recommended the current summer tires from the Continental Corporation to their readers. The product that achieved the most recommendations this year was the ContiPremiumContact 2 for medium range and luxury cars - this tire gained top marks six times. In second place came the fuel-saving ContiEcoContact 3 for compact cars, which won four commendations. Also in second place was the Uniroyal rallye 550, the rain tire for medium range cars, which received the same number of awards. The Barum Brillantis was also rated four times as 'recommended', whilst the Semperit Comfort-Life, a tire particularly suitable for large saloons, was twice rated as 'recommended'. The Barum Bravuris scored a good mid-field result, being rated as 'recommended' by the magazine 'AutoBild sportscars'. In the SUV category, the Uniroyal 4x4 street achieved the rating 'recommended'. The magazine 'promobil' awarded the rating 'highly recommended' to both the VancoCamper and Vanco tires, designed for mobile homes and light vans respectively.

"As all the editorial teams set different evaluation standards, a recommendation from several teams is a particularly sound argument for motorists" was the delighted comment of Continental press officer Alexander Lührs on hearing the results. Not every tire model was tested by all editorial teams. "So we have here a good cross-section that not only meets the requirements of drivers of luxury cars, but also helps owners of medium range and smaller cars to make up their minds." What is of particular interest is that as the more inexpensive brands were also represented, there are Continental tires that suit all pockets, whilst ensuring safe driving characteristics.

The 2007 summer tire tests once again provide sound advice for all motorists whose summer tires are now below Continental's recommended tread depth of three millimetres and will therefore soon need replacing - for the safety of the motorists themselves and that of all other road users. Tires that were too low-cost failed the tests, though. This, according to 'AutoBild', confirmed the results of previous tire tests, in which cheap products "generally failed".
