Hanover/ Jeversen, October 13, 2008. Again this year, tyres from Continental scored best in winter tests. Specifically, experts from the ADAC, from the Stiftung Warentest consumer reporting institute, from ÖAMTC [the Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club], from TCS [the Swiss Touring Club] and from two special-interest pub­lications, “AutoBild” and “auto motor und sport” compared the ContiWinter­Contact TS 800, TS 810 and TS 830 against over sixty competitive tyres. The results: All Continental products received the highest ratings assigned – “highly recommended”, “exemplary” or “good”. The test committees all emphasised Continental’s leading position with regard to all safety-relevant criteria and top values on wet roads.

The results of the tests, which were conducted by German and international consumer organisations and special-interest editorial boards, are a typical reflection of the performance capability of the tyre industry. These test results are a big help to motorists in selecting the right tyre in autumn.

ContiWinterContact TS 830: Best scores from ADAC and Stiftung Warentest

The ADAC tested the new ContiWinterContact TS 830 for rims with sizes between 15 and 16 inches. Right off the bat the new product took second place and a top score of “Highly recommended“; it likewise took second place in the Stiftung Warentest rating with a score of “good”. The ÖAMTC also evaluated it as “highly recommended“, as did the experts at TCS. A total of 19 tyre models were rated in the tests conducted by the ADAC, Stiftung Warentest, ÖAMTC and TCS.

The test reports described the ContiWinterContact TS 830 as very well balanced, awarding it best scores on wet roads and ice and finding it especially good on snow.

ContiWinterContact TS 810: Rated second by “auto motor and sport” and “AutoBild”

The ContiWinterContact TS 810, which is suitable for standard-size sedans, was included in the test conducted by the editorial team of “auto motor und sport“. The experts from this Stuttgart-based publication awarded a “highly recommended” rating for this Continental premium tyre as well. The editorial team of “AutoBild“ likewise assigned a top score of “vorBildlich“ [exemplary]. A total of 20 tyre models were represented in the two tests. The ContiWinterContact TS 810 was certified as having good traction and short braking distances on snow and well-balanced handling characteristics on wet and dry roads.

ContiWinterContact TS 800: Test winner at Stiftung Warentest, second at ADAC

The ContiWinterContact TS 800 also did very well in tests conducted by Europe’s big motoring clubs. It was test winner at Stiftung Warentest and took an outstanding second place among 21 competitors in the tests conducted by the ADAC, ÖAMTC and TCS. The ContiWinterContact TS 800 was characterised as very well balanced, with best scores on wet roads and especially high ratings on snow and ice.

ContiCrossContact Winter "Exemplary" rating from AutoTests

ContiCrossContact Winter, the noted 4x4 specialist, was likewise included in the tests for this season; AutoTests, the sister magazine of AutoBild did the ratings. It was awarded an “exemplary” rating (issue 01/09). The experts were impressed with the tyre’s grip and handling performance on snow, as well as its short braking distances in the wet.
