New winter tires for sports cars, medium and luxury-class cars: Continental will supply both new winter tire models as of the fall of this year in a total of 44 versions. Whereas the ContiWinterContact TS 810 was developed for medium and top category passenger cars, the ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport was designed for hard suspension cars. Both models have been performance enhanced by means of a highly asymmetrical tread concept. ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport, for example, features outstanding handling characteristics in the wet and dry, as well as safe driving properties on roads in winter. Approved for speeds up to 240 km/h, this tire is a high-tech winter performer of the premium segment. ContiWinterContact TS 810, also being launched in the fall of 2004, delivers a fine combination of superb properties on winter roads and comfortable design - a recommended choice for fitment to medium and luxury class cars. Development was focused on supreme braking performance, even on snow-covered roads, good aquaplaning resistance, as well as low tire rolling noise. Another asset of this technically sophisticated tire is its increased mileage performance. This new generation of Continental winter tires will be sold in a wide and sensible range of sizes. Both models will also be available as SSR tires incorporating Continental runflat technology. Right from the very start of production, the market leader's range of winter tires will cover about 75% of the sizes required by the market, with new sizes being added in winter 2005. As for pricing, Continental has based it on the successful predecessor, the ContiWinterContact TS 790. The new generation of winter tires will gradually replace the predecessor model as of the forthcoming winter season. For 4WD vehicles: the Conti4x4WinterContact Continental's range includes the Conti4x4WinterContact tire for 4WD vehicles and SUVs. With its progressive sipe technology, this tire offers high traction and supreme cornering performance as well as high driving stability. Its tread pattern has been additionally geared towards ensuring rapid water dispersion to prevent aquaplaning. Continental has further expanded its range of winter tires in this high-growth segment for the 2004/2005 winter season. The company is currently the only manufacturer to offer 4x4 winter tires for 20" rims. For the compact category: ContiWinterContact TS 780 With its honeycomb sipes, the ContiWinterContact TS 780 is specially designed to deliver short braking distances on wintry roads, good lateral control and a long mileage. This makes it a recommended winter tire fitment for compact category vehicles. The ContiWinterContact TS 780 is available in a wide range with speed ratings of between 160 and 190 km/h (speed indices Q and T). Range of sizes:
*= At present, only vehicles with a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) are allowed to be equipped with SSR tires.
