09/12/2005 Winter Tires for Mid-Size and Luxury Class Cars and 4x4 SUVs – With SSR Runflat Technology

Frankfurt/Hanover, September 2005.  With its two ContiWinterContact TS 810 and ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport models, market leader Continental offers high-tech winter tires for mid-size and luxury class cars, as well as for sporty vehicles. Both models are available with runflat capabilities. Continental also supplies the Conti4x4WinterContact for 4WD vehicles. All these winter tires are sold in a wide range of sizes.

Winter tires for sports cars, mid-size and luxury-class cars

Where as the ContiWinterContact TS 810 was developed for mid-size and luxury-class passenger cars, the ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport was designed for hard suspension cars. Both models perform excellently under all road conditions in winter thanks to the highly asymmetrical tread concept. ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport, for example, features outstanding handling characteristics in the wet and dry, as well as safe driving properties on snow-covered roads. Approved for speeds up to 240 km/h, this tire offers high-tech winter performance for the premium segment.

The ContiWinterContact TS 810 delivers an optimum combination of superb properties on winter roads and comfortable design - it is therefore recommended for fitting on mid-size and luxury-class cars. Development focused on short braking distances and high traction – even on snow-covered roads – as well as on good aquaplaning resistance and a low tire rolling noise. Another asset of this technically sophisticated tire is its increased mileage performance. Continental winter tires are sold in a wide and sensible range of sizes. Models are also available as Continental SSR versions with runflat capabilities.

For 4WD vehicles: The Conti4x4WinterContact

Continental's range includes the Conti4x4WinterContact tire for 4WD vehicles and SUVs. With its progressive sipe technology, this tire offers high traction and supreme cornering performance as well as high driving stability. Its tread pattern has been additionally geared towards ensuring rapid water dispersion to prevent aquaplaning. Continental has further expanded its range of winter tires in this high-growth segment for the 2005/2006 winter season.
