Production of control units for car comfort functions starts; these include door control units and seat electronics.

1992
Production of electrical components and control units for airbag systems starts. An airbag control unit from a later development series is illustrated (right) - now with integrated rollover sensor.

1992
The commercial activities of AEG and Deutsche Aerospace in the microelectronics sector are merged under the name TEMIC TELEFUNKEN microelectronic GmbH, based in Heilbronn. In the same year, the foundation stone for the subsequent Temic headquarters building is laid in Sieboldstrasse in Nuernberg.

Opening of a new plant in Cuautla, Mexico.

1996
A.D.C. GmbH (Automotive Distance Control Systems) founded in Lindau as a joint venture between Temic and Leica to develop driver assistance systems. Three years later the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) in the Mercedes S-Class is the first series production radar-based distance control system - an A.D.C. development.


1996
Temic Automotive Electric Motors GmbH (TAEM) founded in Berlin.

1998
The Temic headquarters is now based in Nuernberg. Opening of a large, ultra-modern development center in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA.

2000
The three-millionth door control unit comes off the production line.

2001
Start of a joint venture in Shanghai, China.

2001
The company is largely taken over by the Continental Group, is renamed Conti Temic microelectronic GmbH and integrated into the Automotive Systems Division. The takeover is completed in 2002. With the combined potential of Temic and of Teves, which had been integrated earlier on, the Division very rapidly develops into one of the international automotive industry’s strongest partners and a technology leader in many areas concerned with driving safety and comfort.
