Our employees are the most valuable resource of our organization. Safe and healthy workplaces and working conditions are an obligation which we have to deliver to our employees. Healthy and motivated employees are a pre-requisite for stable processes, failure-free products and excellent working results.

As a consequence we are measuring the occupational safety & health related performance of our division by means of three indicators. They provide information on the safety and health related impact of our processes. The indicators are defined below and consolidated data for the division are presented for a period of 5 years. In order to compare our performance with other organisations the following data were considered:

• data from other divisions of Continental,
• data from Best Practise organisations and
• data from Worker`s Compensation Insurance (Germany)

Definitions

• Paid Sickness: Number of illness- and occupational accident-related absenteeism as per paid worktime (unit: %)
• Accident Rate: Number of occupational accidents (without accidents happening form way home to work and vice versa, but with accidents on business travel) causing lost time as per 1 million paid working hours (unit: ppm)
• Lost Time Rate: Number of lost work time (hours) caused by occupational accidents as per 1 million paid working hours (unit: ppm). The metrics does not include lost work time on the day the accident occurred.

Presentation of Charts

• The presented data show illness-related absenteeism of 2.9 % which is below industrial average of FRG. Paid Sickness decreased within 4 years by 22%.
• The Accident Rate could be reduced within 4 years by 57%.
• The Lost Time Rate could be reduced in the same time by 63%.
