Only buy new SSR tyres from certified specialist tyre dealers.
Tyres featuring SSR run-flat technology are increasingly in demand in the replacement market. Motorists should, however, make sure that the specialist tyre dealer or workshop is certified to fit these special tyres. Fitting requires additional expertise, which is why the tyre manufacturers run training courses at the end of which staff receive a certificate. SSR tyres with run-flat technology may only be fitted to vehicles equipped with a Tire Pressure Warning System.

There are two technologies existing:
1) Direct measuring systems with a pressur sensor in the tyre (TPMS = Tire Pressure Monitoring System).
2) Indirect measuring systems that receive the tyre pressure from ABS signals (DDS = Deflation Detection System).
