The Barum Vanis - high mileage performance and short braking distances The Barum Vanis combines safety and high mileage, as its flat, wide belt contour gives it a large ground contact patch. This provides benefits in terms of mileage and braking performance. A scuff rib on the tyre sidewall protects it when it comes into contact with kerbstones, thereby preventing tyre failure caused by chafing. The interlocking design of the Vanis combines the benefits of both ribbed and blocked tread patterns - solid tread ribs provide good traction and handling performance, with positive braking on dry roads, whilst the tread blocks ensure good driving characteristics in the wet. The combination of these two tread elements with sipes in the individual tread blocks to break up the film of water on the road surface, means safe driving characteristics, even in the wet. The Vanis size range will also be extended for the 2005 summer season.
